The company manufactures and assembles its jets at plants in Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. Primarily selling private and commercial jets to individuals, businesses, governments, and military forces worldwide, high-net-worth individuals account for roughly 60% of its customers, including carriers like American Airlines and U.S. federal agencies such as the Department of Defense and Federal Aviation Administration.
On Truth Social, former President Trump threatened to block Bombardier’s sales in the U.S. if it does not manufacture its aircraft domestically. The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Analysts from investment bank Stifel noted that a potential ban would disrupt U.S. customers facing multi-year waits for private jets, given the historically tight market.
Bombardier employs tens of thousands of workers across the U.S., with operations in 20 states, including Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, New Jersey, Texas, and Washington, D.C. The company spends over $2.5 billion annually with U.S. suppliers and sources more than 50% of its aircraft components from U.S. manufacturers, exceeding competitors like Gulfstream. Recent investments include a new facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The escalating U.S.-Canada trade feud has intensified tensions, with Bombardier caught in the crossfire. While legal challenges remain, Trump’s rhetoric could still impact the company’s business until a trade agreement is finalized.
